How do I get my cat to use a new litter tray?

1) Will my cat get used to the self-cleaning CatGenie?

Yes. Sometimes cats need a little help and patience, but eventually every cat gets used to it. If possible, place the CatGenie in the same spot as the old litter tray so that your cat understands this is the new one. You can leave the old litter tray nearby and stop cleaning it. Your cat will quickly realise that a fresh, clean litter tray is more pleasant than an old, dirty one.

2)Can a kitten use the CatGenie?

Yes, of course. Kittens are curious and adaptable. They observe older cats and imitate their behaviour. If there is no older cat in the household, get your kitten used to the CatGenie in much the same way as you would with other litter trays.

3) We’ve had the CatGenie for two months. At first, our cat didn’t want to use it, so we kept the old litter tray next to it. Now he uses both. Can we get rid of the old litter tray?

Give it a go! You can get rid of the old litter tray completely or simply stop cleaning it. Your cat will very quickly realise that the CatGenie is the better choice.
