General questions about CatGenie

1) Is the CatGenie safe for cats?

Yes! Built-in sensors (GenieEyes) detect when your cat is in the tray. The cleaning cycle only starts once all cats have left the CatGenie. The SaniSolution (unscented or with a fresh scent) used to clean the litter and tray contains the same ingredients used to disinfect operating theatres and examination areas in veterinary practices. The litter consists of a non-toxic combination of natural and synthetic materials. If your cat swallows any, the litter simply passes through the digestive tract again.

2) Our cat goes to the loo very frequently. We think she’s just digging and playing there. Can we stop it from cleaning after every visit?

Yes. Simply set the automatic cleaning cycles to twice a day. We also recommend having the cat examined by a vet, as there could be an underlying issue such as Bladder infection (cystitis) or another health problem.

3) What do I need to switch from my old litter to the CatGenie?

You simply need a cold water connection and a drain.

4) We’ve had the CatGenie for over a year and we’re delighted! During the last service, it looked as though the GenieHand needed replacing. Do we need to buy a new CatGenie or is there another option?

You don’t need to buy a new CatGenie. Have a look in the e-shop – there you’ll find all the accessories and spare parts (including the GenieHand) for your CatGenie.

5) We’re interested in the CatGenie, but our cat needs complete privacy. Is there an option for shy cats?

Yes, of course! In the e-shop you’ll find accessories for the CatGenie – specifically for shy cats, such as the GenieDome cover and the Genie Doors.

6) We’ve bought the CatGenie and our cat loves it! However, we still have a few bags of old cat litter. Can we mix it with the CatGenie granules?

Under no circumstances! Never use other types of litter and do not mix them with the CatGenie granules. Other types of litter (clumping, crystals, pine wood, etc.) will damage the machine, block the pipes and void the warranty. The reusable Washable Granules are specially designed for safe use with the self-cleaning CatGenie. You can donate any leftover litter to friends, a vet’s surgery or an animal shelter.
